On Christmas Day, I received an email from a soldier in Iraq who received one of the care packages sent in your names. Here is his note:
I am Army SGT Curtis C. I received a care package with your name on it today, Christmas Day, here in Iraq. I just wanted to say thank you for thinking about us, especially during this season that is undoubtedly difficult for us over here. It is tough to be away from family during the holidays, and this is my second Christmas in a row away from home. Knowing that people back home that we don’t even know care about us definitely makes things easier. From our family to yours, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Don’t forget to make a resolution, and I hope you get what you were wishing for. Thanks again.
Makes you smile doesn’t it. If I get more thank yous, I will post them here.
So, where did I send the money for your Christmas Presents this year?
- Toys were purchased and sent to Mott Children’s Hospital
- Toys were sent to orphans in Benin (Frenchie has a friend in the Peace Corp there and this year, there was no money for toys)
- Care Packages were sent to US Soldiers in Iraq
- Meals were purchased for Detroit Homeless
I usually spend around $550 on my family and friends during the holidays and it went alot further this year. For the first time in years, I am really proud of the presents I gave this year. I hope you are happy too, but in case you aren’t, Scrooge You!
Merry Christmas
I woke this morning with minor house envy after attending a soiree at the Suburban Bliss abode. Yes, we did party in the new lovely bathroom, but every once in awhile Melissa let us explore other rooms. I love their house. It is so cute.
I also barely made it home, as Melissa’s children were planning on having me sleep over, Leslie’s were taking me home and I am not sure what Juniper and Mini-Tiki’s plans were. I had to laugh at the end when UrbanTiki commented he usually also spends a small portion of his time with the kids at a party. For me, it is the reverse, usually I only spend a small time with the adults. But how can anyone resist an absolutely adorable little girl asking very sweetly if you’d play with her? Or the boys both anchoring themselves around my leg? You just can’t. And the kids may have been tornados of energy but they could calm down for ten minutes to draw.
Fun night…
Or my Christmas wish list.
I am posting this here not as a plea for gifts but because my family and friends often come to this site for information on my life. For this Christmas, I would like nothing. Please, if you feel you must get me something, donate that money to charity. It can be donated in my name, your name, your dog’s name. I doesn’t matter to me. Just donate. I don’t need or want anything, but for someone else to have a better Christmas.
Besides I am not getting anyone anything but a pretty card.
