Thank goodness for Logan running last year - or else I wouldn’t have gotten a photo of him, Melissa which posted on her blog, which got the photo a crazy number of views, which made it easy for TSC to find it, contact me and hire me. Yipee! And way to go this year, Logan!
Yes, it did make me want to run. I do really miss running… Maybe I can find a local team with a good coach who can help me find my form again. Ever since surgery, I haven’t been able to get my right knee to bend the right way…

Yes, it is true. I will be part of the official race day photography crew for the Detroit Marathon. Right now, I am slated to be in Ford Field.
Despite a weekend bored out of my mind in bed, I wasn’t feeling so great tuesday. In fact, by 10am, it felt like my worst enemy was grinding their heel into my chest. So I left work and called it a day. Sure, Mom would tough it out and just keep on working - but I did that my first few years. Now I understand and appreciate the value of sick time.
I’ve spent the day watching Firefly episodes that I stole..I mean borrowed… from my brother before he moved. (Don’t worry Pip I plan to return your copies right after I get my own) If you haven’t watched the series or at least the movie, Serenity, you are just missing out on a barrel of laughs and good fun. I have to agree this was the best series on television - maybe a little before its time, so sadly cancelled much too early.
Don’t worry I also snuck in a little laundry time. I planned on doing it that night anyways, but there was something relaxing about the quiet of the laundry room and not having to fight for washers or dryers. I had my pick of the place.
I have finished scanning and compiling the photos for Project Meeting my Grandfather. Now all the is left is the final review for spelling errors, addition of a few dates and misidentified people. In fact, I intentionally stopped trying to label photos of my two great-aunts because I kept getting them mixed up. Sorry Aunt Barbara and Aunt Margaret!
We are still trying to get in contact with the Zankys. I have emailed Jim Zanky’s granddaughter but I haven’t heard back yet. Probably just the shock of finding photos (that you’ve never seen before) of your grandfather on the internet!
Even with the photos completed, I still have a pile of news clippings to review and then archive properly. So if anyone can tell me the trick to archiving newsprint, I’d appreciate it.
Last night, I watched my all-time favorite film The Best Years of Our Lives. I love the film, the story, the message, the actors, the costumes, everything about it.
I watch a lot of the classic Hollywood films made in the 30’s and 40’s. I love that era of filmmaking. All my favorite actors come from the period - Teresa Wright, Myrna Loy, Shirley Temple, Cary Grant, Jimmy Stewart….. Somedays it makes me nostalgic for the 40’s. It wasn’t an easy time in the US with half the decade spent at war and the last half trying to find a balance in life, but the clothing, the hair, the manners, it all just seems so intriguing.
